Wisdom and Truth Minute: Day 66

Fear

Matthew 10:28

Hi, I’m Howie Campbell, and this is a Wisdom and Truth Minute.

Fear can be very debilitating, and it comes in many forms. It can actually shape our behavior and influence our decisions. I think one of the worst kinds of fear is the fear of other people. There are actually vicious people that use fear to control folks.

There’s a good perspective on fear, recorded in Matthew 10:28. Jesus said, “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” A proper fear and respect of God is healthy, my friend; so fear God, and you won’t fear man.

Wisdom and Truth Minute: Day 55

Ocean Waves

Psalm 29:3, Psalm 93:4.

Hi, I’m Howie Campbell, and this is a Wisdom and Truth Minute.

If you’ve ever been to the ocean on a very windy or stormy day, you know the power of the waves crashing on the shore. The power of the water coming in is immense. I don’t care how strong and powerful a person is, there is no way you could stand unmoved by the power of the surf. The psalmist uses the picture of the powerful seas to describe God.

“The voice of the Lord is upon the waters, the God of glory thunders. The Lord is upon many waters.” Psalm 29:3.

“The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yes, than the mighty waves of the sea.” Psalm 93:4.

God, our Savior, is awesome. Who wouldn’t worship Him?

Wisdom and Truth Minute: Day 9

God Holds the Future
1 Corinthians 2:9

Hi, I’m Howie Campbell, and this is a Wisdom and Truth Minute.

Can you, at this moment, see what’s going on a hundred miles from you? Do you know the details of what will take place in your life tomorrow? Of course not. We’re locked in to space and time.

But God does. In fact, he’s there waiting, while at the same time being with you now. We can do all the planning, hoping, and working toward the future we want, but we really don’t know what the future holds.

This is a timeless truth. About 2000 years ago, the apostle Paul quoted from Isaiah the prophet, who lived about 600 years before him. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for him who love him.” It’s a good thing we know who holds the future, and your future is looking good!
